On Sunday March 10th, 2024, Most Reverend William E. Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, came to St. Joan of Arc to dedicate our newly built Chapel and Parish Life Center. We began with a special Mass at 8:30 AM to dedicate the chapel and altar for the future prayer and worship of our community. The beautiful new space was filled with morning sunlight as the altar was blessed with water, anointed with oil and honored with incense, before the holy sacrifice of the Mass was celebrated for the first time. A trio of musicians led those present in song while the Archbishop, priests and deacons, vested in rose for Laetare Sunday, led us in celebration in this very special moment in the history of St. Joan of Arc Parish.
Then it was time to officially open our new Parish Life Center, which comprises of a gymnasium alongwith additional offices and classrooms. These spaces will expand the ability of our Pre-K to 8th Grade school to grow into the future, and the number and types of events that our Parish will be able to host in the evenings and on weekends. Students and teachers were in attendance to help celebrate the moment with Archbishop Lori and distinguished guests.
Finally, many parishioners gathered for a joyful Mass of Celebration in the main church, followed by a reception. Our School Choir 'SJA Voices' were joined by the St. Joan of Arc Choir and together with all gathered, they made a joyful noise that fittingly celebrated Laetare Sunday and the completion of our new buildings.
